Nothing about the piece feels forced in the guest bedroom; it simply makes the arrangement look more intentional. The room feels more finished, but not more formal, and that balance matters to me. The guest bedroom feels better as a whole, which matters more to me than any single detail.
We finished decorating our bedroom just before a housewarming, and this bedside table ended up being the detail everyone noticed. New spaces can feel temporary for a while, and this helped ours move past that stage. I did not need to change the rest of our bedroom for this bedside table to make sense there. The bedside area now feels intentional instead of like the last thing we thought about. The end result in our bedroom feels like our home, only more finished.
From across our guest bedroom, the bedside table gives the arrangement a clearer sense of balance. I can change smaller things around the bedside table without feeling like the whole plan for our guest bedroom has to change.
