My partner and I had different ideas for our hallway, and the cabinet ended up being the thing we both liked. I did not buy it for compliments, but they have been a nice confirmation. It has settled into the room as though it had always been planned there. The cabinet is a choice I am happy to keep living with.
We had been putting off our hallway until the rest of the house was done; this cabinet made the wait feel worthwhile. It gave us one part of the house that felt done while everything else was still settling. I like that the room still feels relaxed rather than overly coordinated. The room took one extra round of rearranging before I was completely happy with it.
I kept the rest of the dining room simple, and this piece gives the space just enough presence. I spent a lot of time comparing options and am glad I did not rush the decision. The area feels more intentional whenever I walk through it. The surrounding furniture feels less random now that this piece is part of the dining room. I went back and forth on where it belonged before everything clicked.
