I had been overthinking this part of the dining room; this case piece solved the visual problem more simply than I expected. The surrounding furniture feels less random now that this case piece is part of the dining room. The room feels more grown-up now, but it still feels like a place we actually live in. It is slightly more noticeable in the room than I expected, though not in a way I regret.
In my hallway, there is something nice about furniture that makes the space feel better without changing how you live in it. I was aiming for a room with a little more structure and a little less visual noise, and the room feels easier on the eye. The room has a better sense of proportion to my eye now. The room feels settled now, and I would not change the choice.
The room was close to done before, but this case piece gave it the last bit of direction it needed. It stands out just enough and still lets the rest of the room do its job. For me, that makes this case piece one of the better choices we made for my hallway.
