For the hallway, the scale of the room feels better to my eye now that this piece is part of the arrangement. I am glad I took the time to choose this piece.
As the room stands now, our routine did not have to change around this console; it slid into the space naturally. I was aiming for a space that felt finished without looking formal, and this ended up being the right direction. What surprised me was how much the whole arrangement improved with one choice, especially when I look at the room as a whole. It gives the room direction while keeping the relaxed feeling we wanted. I am happy with the balance we ended up with in our living area.
My daughter noticed that our front room looked finished the first evening the piece was there.
