As a piece of the overall room, I had been overthinking this part of the room; the sofa solved the visual problem more simply than I expected. What surprised me was how much more intentional the room felt from the doorway, especially when I look at the room as a whole. The room looks intentional without feeling arranged for a photo. I am glad I took the time to choose the sofa.
For the living room, this sofa turned out to be a better fit than the more elaborate options I considered. I am happy with the balance we ended up with in the living room.
In the overall arrangement, we have had a few people over since adding this sofa, and it has quietly become part of the conversation. The room feels more finished, but not more formal, and that balance matters to me.
