Instead of changing everything in our bedroom, I added the piece, and that was enough. This ended up being exactly the kind of update our bedroom needed.
For the guest bedroom, the piece has been easy to work into this room because the overall design does not feel fussy. It has enough presence to matter, but the room still has breathing space. I was aiming for something that felt at home rather than showy, and the rest of the furniture makes more sense around it. It stands out just enough and still lets the rest of the room do its job.
