Instead of making the room busier, this living room piece gave the den a clearer sense of purpose. The overall look is polished without crossing into formal. It works well for both quiet evenings and having people over. I can see this staying in the room even if we change some of the surrounding pieces later. It has been a solid addition to the room.
Thinking about everyday use, the seating fits the main sitting area better than something more formal would have. Nothing about it feels fussy in day-to-day use.
From the sofa, I can see how much this seating helps the living room feel visually connected. I am glad I did not try to fill the spot with something busier. It quickly became the place everyone gravitates to. There was no need to rethink the entire room once it was in place, which I appreciated. We spend a lot of time in this part of the house, so I notice quickly when something feels out of place. I would still give it four stars only because it took some experimenting to get the room balanced around it.
