In use during a little work at the table, the dining room centerpiece feels like a genuine part of the open dining area rather than something decorative only. I am glad I did not try to fill the spot with something busier.
Bought for ordinary day-to-day use, the table has made the dining room feel more settled over Sunday breakfast. We did not need to change anything else around it for the space to work. It works just as well on a normal weeknight as it does when people come over. For us, it was the right call.
To my eye, the dining table gives the dining room enough structure without making it feel heavy.
