Here in my main dining space, the best part is that this sideboard looks intentional in this room without asking for all the attention. What surprised me was how quickly it stopped feeling like a new addition, especially when I look at the room as a whole. The room feels more finished, but not more formal, and that balance matters to me. I wish I had planned the surrounding pieces around it sooner; once I did, the room made more sense.
In the finished room, it is surprisingly hard to find furniture that feels distinct without feeling loud, and this sideboard gets that balance right.
From one side of our dining area to the other, the room finally has a focal point that still feels easy to live with.
In the context of the living area, I like this most when the house is quiet and the space is just being used normally. I was aiming for something that would work with what we already owned, and it fits the house better than I expected.
