A few weeks in, this chest still feels like the right decision for my living area. Seeing this chest with the rest of my living area makes the whole arrangement feel more connected. The piece helped the room feel collected rather than pieced together. I was aiming for a more connected look across the room, and the room feels easier on the eye. I would choose the same direction again for this space.
I notice this chest most during the ordinary parts of the day, which is probably the best compliment I can give it.
For our living area, this chest turned out to be a better fit than the more elaborate options I considered. The overall effect in our living area is stronger than the individual piece looked on its own. I was aiming for an update that would still feel comfortable day to day, and the result feels natural instead of staged. Our living area feels better as a whole, which matters more to me than any single detail.
