I had a hard time deciding what my primary bedroom was missing, and the chest turned out to be the answer. I notice it without feeling like the whole room revolves around it. I would choose the same direction again for this space.
Within our bedroom, the overall look is calmer now that this piece is part of this room. It ended up being a stronger finishing touch than I expected. That is enough for me to feel very good about the purchase.
For our living area, instead of changing everything in the space, I added this chest, and that was enough.
