For the guest room, this chest turned out to be a better fit than the more elaborate options I considered. It is distinct enough to notice and quiet enough to live with. The surrounding furniture feels less random now that this chest is part of the guest room. The overall effect in the guest room is stronger than the individual piece looked on its own. The piece adds definition, but the room still feels comfortable. It was not an instant yes for everyone in the house, but it grew on us quickly.
The best sign is that this piece already feels like part of our regular routine in the guest room. For me, that makes this piece one of the better choices we made for the guest room.
The placement feels right, the room feels settled, and I am glad I chose the chest. The piece helped the room feel collected rather than pieced together.
We had been putting off our living area until the rest of the house was done; the chest made the wait feel worthwhile. The surrounding furniture feels less random now that the chest is part of our living area. I am happy with the balance we ended up with in our living area.
