The room was close to done before, but this sideboard gave it the last bit of direction it needed. I was aiming for a room with a little more structure and a little less visual noise, and the rest of the furniture makes more sense around it. I would choose the same direction again for this space.
From the doorway into our main dining space, it is surprisingly hard to find furniture that feels distinct without feeling loud, and this credenza gets that balance right. The visual weight feels right to me, and the room still has plenty of breathing space. It gives the dining space a stronger sense of balance. I was aiming for a change that would not force us to replace everything else, and the rest of the furniture makes more sense around it. I am glad I took the time to choose this credenza.
