With friends visiting, I especially notice how well the center table belongs in the den. The overall look is polished without crossing into formal. It works well with the way we actually use the living room. The piece has a nice presence in person, but it does not make the rest of the room feel secondary. The biggest difference is the sense of balance it gives the space. It has been a solid addition to the room.
For me, the living room table works because it feels just as natural over morning coffee as it does when the room is tidy. It feels appropriate for real life, not just for a styled photo. It works well with the way we actually use the living room. I was more interested in how the room would feel after a few weeks than in the first five minutes. Very happy with how it has worked out.
