As the room stands now, the overall look is calmer now that the credenza is part of the space. It helped the dining area feel like a complete room rather than just a table and chairs. I can change smaller things around the credenza without feeling like the whole plan for the dining area has to change. I am happy with the balance we ended up with in the dining area.

For our main dining space, I like furniture that settles into a space instead of dominating it, and this credenza does that in the space. The room looks intentional without feeling arranged for a photo. The surrounding furniture feels less random now that this credenza is part of our main dining space. I would choose the same direction again for this space.
