Against what we already had, the best part is that this piece looks intentional in this room without asking for all the attention. The space feels calmer in the normal flow of the house. I did not need to change the rest of my entryway for this piece to make sense there. The room feels settled now, and I would not change the choice.
To my eye in my entryway, the scale of the room feels better to my eye now that this console table is part of the arrangement.
A friend noticed this console table almost immediately and said our living area finally looked finished. The compliments have been about the room as a whole, not just one object, which I like. The overall effect in our living area is stronger than the individual piece looked on its own. I would choose the same direction again for this space.
I like furniture that settles into a space instead of dominating it, and this piece does that in my front room.
