With the smaller details kept simple, our guests do not necessarily know what changed, but they keep saying the room feels better since the console went in. I did not buy it for compliments, but they have been a nice confirmation. It helped bridge a mix of pieces we already had, which made the room feel more cohesive. I can change smaller things around the console without feeling like the whole plan for our hallway has to change. The look has a little more visual presence than I pictured, but it ended up working for the room.
In the overall arrangement, of everything I changed in this room, the piece made the most immediate visual difference.
Seen with the rest of the hallway, the rest of this room finally makes more sense around the console. The surrounding furniture feels less random now that the console is part of the hallway. It makes the entry into the room feel more considered. For me, that makes the console one of the better choices we made for the hallway.
For our front room, I had a hard time deciding what the room was missing, and the console table turned out to be the answer.
